Coconut oil is great for cooking and I can use it in some of my beauty products for myself. Tropical Traditions has free recipes using their coconut oil. I love coconut and this is all natural oil. I’m sure I will love it. What I loved even more is that they sent me a big jar full of the coconut oil. A lot of times when you ask for a sample the company gives you a small container, but Tropical Traditions gave me a big container. Awesome! Find them on facebook and twitter.

There are many wonderful recipes for bath salt using different ingredients. Some ingredients may be baking soda, sea salt, citric acid and other items. Bath salts are made to soothe the skin and to help you relax while taking a bath. They are especially refreshing after a long work day or a stressful time. There are some things to remember when using bath salt.
Bath salt is made to be used in small quantities. You do not have to pour the whole bag of salt in to the bath at once. You only need about 1-2 tbs per warm bath. The bath salt should be applied to running, warn bath water so they can dissolve in the water and soak into your skin. Though it is tempting to spend all day in the bath you should never spend more then twenty minutes at a time in a bath. The water can cause salts and other things in your body to become very relaxed, especially if using bath salt. This can cause a person to become very weak, in other words too relaxed if they stay in the bath longer then twenty minutes.
Use caution and have fun. Relaxing with bath salt is a great way to relieve stress. If you use these simple tips your bath experience will be more pleasurable.

Vanilla is one of my favorite scents. It smells sweet and blends well with many oils, especially orange, neroli, sandalwood , chamomile and some others. It makes a scent smell sweeter and softer. Vanilla is a great flavor as well for baking. Vanilla comes from a pretty flower that is native to Mexico. The plant is actually called a Vanilla Orchid. Here are some vanilla recipes you may enjoy.

Vanilla Room Spray Recipe
Vanilla Room Spray 4 oz bottle with mist setting, 1 1/2 oz distilled water, 1 1/2 oz vanilla extract Fill spray bottle with vanilla and water. Shake prior to use. Let sit for 1 day. Mist lightly.

Vanilla Lip Balm

3 tsp beeswax or paraffin wax, 6 tsp sweet almond oil or vegetable oil, 2-3 drops vanilla fragrance oil Melt wax and oil in microwave safe container for 1-2 minutes until the wax is all melted Then add flavor oil and mix pour into lip balm container If lip balm needs to be harder add more wax a little at a time until desired hardness is achieved.

I love making glycerin soap or melt and pour soap. I recently found a recipe that I had used before for herb glycerin soap. Here is the recipe.

Fill a soap mold half full of glycerin melted soap. Add a sprig of rosemary or thyme to soap. Let set for about 15 minutes. Then fill rest of mold with melted glycerin soap. Wait until it cools and hardens. Then pop out of mold. You may color the soap when it is melted before it is poured into the mold. I think 2-3 drops of green soap color looks pretty on one of these glycerin soap bars.

I have been making soap for a few years now and my favorite is the melt and pour or M&P soap. It is easy and quick. You can also do a lot of things with this soap such as mixing scents to form your own, adding color and using different molds.

I was thinking of what type of soap to make for the holidays and I came across some cute molds for snowmen and gingerbread men. The molds were made from silicone which makes the soap easy to pop out and the molds are more durable. They have lasted me a while and I really like working with them. After I made these soaps I gave some to my family and friends. They loved them!My sister collects gingerbread men so that soap went right along with her collection. My mom collects snowmen so the snowman soap went perfect with her collection. They really liked the holiday fragrance too.

If you are looking for a holiday soap to add to you or someone else’s collection try these. The price is only $2 a bar right now and the shipping is a flat rate of $8. If you buy one or 100 soaps you will only be charged $8. What a deal!
